Oluwaremi Oyekunle wins 2010 Gulder Ultimate Search


After spending 21 days in Omo Forest Reserve in Area J4, Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, in search of the Golden Goblet, Twenty Three year old Oluwaremi Oyekunle has emerged winner of the 2010 edition of Gulder Ultimate Search. The University of Ibadan, Agriculture and Forestry as well as other contestants were presented to members of the public at a red carpet event on Saturday, October 23 at the New Expo Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, anchored by the programme presenter, Mr Bob-Manuel Udokwu.
With the win Oyekunle, becomes the winner of the of N7million cash prize, N500, 000 wardrobe allowance and a Ford Explorer jeep.

Harvest of prizes
For this edition, Nigerian Breweries Plc, through its Gulder Brand gave all the contestant cash prices and the Gulder Ultimate Search’s Hall of Fame’s 18 carat gold neck lace. From the order of eviction, 22 year old Dandison Strongface, the first contestant to be evicted got a cash prize of N350, 000 and the 18 carat gold necklace. Followed by Tonia Oduah, younger sister to the first runners-up in the 2009 edition of the programme, Melvin Oduah, got N400, 000 and the gold necklace. Next in the order of eviction was the 24 year old Simeon Okorougo, a professional model, who got the gold necklace and N450, 000 cash prize.
Simeon was followed by Sabdat Bamitale Ahmed, a 27 year old professional basketball player who walked away with half a million naira and the 18 carat gold necklace. Next was Ofoegbu Ozioma, who got N550, 000 and an 18 carat gold necklace. Followed by Mercy Itohan Ebhodaghe, who also got the 18 carat gold neck lace and a cash prize of N600, 000.
The next evictee was Oduche Adaobi, who went home with N650, 000 and the 18 carat gold neck chain. Then Caroline Ukachi Mbanu who later emerged the Last Girl Standing got a cash price of N1million as The Last Girl Standing and N700, 000 for her fifth position on the order of rank in the search and the 18 carat gold neck chain. Fourth was Chukwuma Anyanwu who took time off from his studies, University of Hertfordshire in United Kingdom to come and participate in the adventurous search for fame and fortune went home N750, 000 cash prize and the 18 carat gold neck chain.
Next, were Adeleke Oshimade and Atiku Abubakar Kadiri. Both are 23 years old and native of Ogun state and Edo state respectively. The duo was ranked second in the adventurous 21 days competition and therefore went home with N2million each and the 18 carat gold necklace each.

A little history
The maiden edition of the GUS was held in 2004 at Snake Island in Lagos State. The second edition in 2005 was at the Obudu Hills, in Cross River State. Nifor in Benin, Edo State, played host to the third edition in 2006. The fourth edition was held in 2007 at the famous Sheri Hills in Jos, Plateau State. Awgu Hills in Enugu State was host to the fifth edition in 2008, while the sixth edition in 2009 brought out the tourism potentials in Omodo forest in Osun State. Past winners of the competition which began in 2004 at Snake Island, Lagos state Ezeugo Egwuagwu(GUS1), Lucan Chambliss(GUS2), Hector-Joberteh(GUS3), Dominic-Mudabai(Gus4),Micheal-Nwachukwu(GUS5) and Uche Nwaezeapu(GUS6).
